'Tis the season for giving! Rusty Eck Ford is kicking off their Community First campaign by giving back to holiday charities.

For the first time, students from eight schools will compete in a Christmas tree decorating contest to help the community. Les Eck, who owns Rusty Eck Ford, says each school will be partnered with a charity and decorate a tree. The public can donate from the 'wish lists' the charities create and the school/tree with the most donations wins.

"It's just a good way to get the schools that like to do community projects, the shelters and the charities that need items during the holiday season, every holiday season the need is even greater," Eck said.

Keri McGregor is the program director at Harbor House, an organization that supports families after domestic violence. She says journals are great tools for children who have experienced trauma to cope.

"I just think it's important to never forget that there's somebody somewhere going through something, especially for those that we're serving that have been abused," McGregor said. "It's important to give back and put yourself in somebody else's shoes and do what you can, little or big in any way, shape or form it's really making a huge difference on the people that we serve."

Voting takes place from Dec 1. through Dec. 22. The winning school will be awarded the following prizes for their organization:

1st Place $2500 grant
2nd Place $1000 grant
3rd Place $500 grant
4th-8th Place $100 grants
